On November 24, 2017, a comprehensive agreement was signed at Queen’s Park by the Honorable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, and the Honorable Laura Albanese, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.
The Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement will be creating a new structure to strengthen the partnership that between Ontario and Canada in order to welcome and settle more immigrants. In addition to the agreement, it will boost the economy and address shared humanitarian responsibilities.
Also, Canada and Ontario have announced a joint effort to assist internationally trained newcomers to meet the provincial requirements in order to work in their profession. The plan will see the admissions of nearly one million new permanent residents welcomed to Canada over the next three years.
