Family Class Sponsorship
Family reunification is an important objective of the Canadian immigration system. That is why programs are available to allow persons to sponsor their relatives to live, study, and work in Canada. You may sponsor your relative whether they are in Canada or outside Canada.
To become a sponsor, you must be at least 18 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Indian Act.
If you qualify as a sponsor, you may be able to sponsor your spouse, common-law spouse, conjugal partner, parents, grandparents, and dependent children to come and reside in Canada.
As a sponsor, you would need to undertake to provide for your sponsored relative’s financial needs once they arrive in Canada, and ensure that they do not require social assistance from the government, all while continuing to provide for your own essential needs.
We understand and appreciate the importance of bringing families together to live in Canada. If you would like to speak to someone about sponsoring a family member, call us at 1-800-CITIZEN to request a consultation.
